Writer,Director,Producer

Originally from a cattle station in northwest Queensland, Madeleine Chaplain is a writer, director, producer and actor.

Graduate of Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Fine Arts [Acting], Maddie has lived in Sydney, Melbourne and Los Angeles in pursuit of her filmmaking career.

Perpetually enthusiastic to further develop her skills, Maddie has participated in programs including VIC Screen’s ‘Originate’ initiative and AACTA’s ‘Regional Pitch’ development.

In 2021 Maddie wrote, directed, acted and produced the pilot episode for an original series concept, 'Composure'. This undertaking affirmed the importance of gaining further experience from a crew perspective. Hence why Maddie then began working as an assistant director for commercials, television and film, in order to better herself as a filmmaker. The knowledge and skills gained were put to good use shooting her directorial debut short film ‘The Bank Manager’ - co-created and produced with Luke - then shortly after producing a pilot episode, working closely with renowned writer/director Jesse Griffin. ‘The Bank Manager’, was selected for several 2023 festivals - including Flickerfest and St Kilda Film Festival.

Maddie is currently writing the final draft of ‘The Bank Manager’ feature film whilst in post-production for her latest short film ‘Little Addy’.
